life: Cali pt. 1 PRE

well, this year, we went on our annual vacation... my parents basically work 10hrs+ every day 7 days a week. we work about... 300 days a year.

so. my cuzin's dad/ my uncle wanted to go to Vegas cause he's never been there--while Keni's family and ours already went, in '03. so, it wasn't really gonna be that much fun--i remember being forced away from the gambling tables cause i was too young, and the only thing really was the pool... not fun.

BUT he had his eyes out for bigger things--he wanted to go to:
Vegas (gambling!!)
L.A. (hollywood!!)
SanFran (he has friends there)
San Diego (Sea World!)
Grand Canyon
and Yosemite Park.

all of California and beyond, basically.

so we took forever hashing out when we would go specifically--we would always go around july 4, but it mattered when exactly for airfare and hotel rooms.

i begged to help out, since i was a link to the world of internet therefore leading to savings.
so he let me.

i went on travelocity, hotels.com, orbitz, hotelrooms, and several other sites. for both hotels and airfares--i had excelled about several hundred cells... and i stressed out a lot for that.

he was demanding: he wanted it to be a short flight (so non-stop), the right time (don't have to wake up too early) and within budget.

with hotels, he ALWAYS wanted it to be close to the attractions (universal studios, sea world, san diego zoo, or the vegas strip) and to chinatown, HAD to be @ least 3 stars, and within budget (about $100/nite).

and in the end. he took care of all of it. i did all the f*cking shit for nothing at all. my hard work meant nothing. he made all the decisions in the end.

the plane tickets were actually bought from a travel agency, and he had a friend working in a hotel in vegas, so we're staying there....(after i looked up about 20 hotels in vegas--there are so many!!)

here's a little story:

he found a hotel in the middle of nowhere between vegas and the canyon, for about $50 a nite.

but then he called my mom (his cuzin), and he was like: "Tsun, can you see if you can get it cheaper?"

my ma was like: "okay, sure gum."

but internally, she was like: "you CHEAP*ss!!!! you got the fr*ggin room for $50 a night! that's a steal!!! and now you want ME to call them to see if i can get it for even cheaper??? what do you f*king want??? 'Oh, can you give me two more dollars off?? Make it $45 dollars a nite?!!'

my dad was like: (after laughing his _ss off) "man, when we get there, its gonna be a FLEABAG!!! then i'm gonna just point and laugh. point and laugh. $50 a night!! oh, man. that was a good one." (wipes tear from his eye)

getting there was TERRIFYING!!!! oh-my-god! we drove like forever!!! my dad was driving the 'children's' car (teens & pre-teens) i'm SO glad i slept through a lot of it.

i woke up in the car, and it was totally dark outside. they all ended up waking up, and it was just so scary--there were no street/highway lights, and in the distance, there were no lights either!!! no city nearby @ all!!!! totally dark. after about a couple of hours of driving, we passed by a harrah's (we were like, "OH MY GOD, IS THAT IT??? PLEASE TELL ME WE'RE THERE!!! (we drive right by) NOOOOOO!!!! civilization!!!)

so... there were 12 of us that was on this vacation. Hotel rooms totally don't allow this many ppl in 2 rooms, or even 3. But we were never caught... it's azn cheapness.
